Georgia Box Interview
Georgia Box Interview – Live & Love Music
Georgia discusses social media, Youtube covers and iTunes chart success…
Hi Georgia, we’re loving your sound! You have an amazing voice. How did you first get into music?
Thanks so much! Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to sing! I sang before I talked! My family have always been very musical so I have grown up around it. I used to watch Stars In Their Eyes and be totally captivated haha! So I’ve just been singing all my life and have been very lucky to be able to do it as my career!
Haha, I remember watching that show too! You’ve built up really strong Youtube and social media followings. How do you feel those platforms have helped you in your career?
I worked really hard on building my social platforms up. I started posting covers and videos 3 years ago weekly! These platforms have helped me so much by having people constantly show an interest in me, and come along to my shows and there when I release music. It’s so important to have people backing and supporting your music these days and it’s going to be so important for when I release my next original material!
Which cover song has been your favourite to rewrite so far?
I have to say Shaggy ‘It Wasn’t Me’. Mainly for the fact of how crazy it went online! People seemed to love it. I enjoyed it too, because I could use a bit of humour in it!
How would you describe your fans?
AMAZING, loyal and just incredible. I wouldn’t be able to be doing what I do without them!
You recently charted at number 3 in the iTunes singer / songwriter charts with debut EP ‘Love Languages’. What was that like?
That was amazing. I released it before I had any backing from management or anything, so released it totally independently all by myself. So when it did that well it blew me away; again, that was down to the support of my followers!
Who or what influences you?
I love people like, Zara Larsson, Raye, Dua Lipa, and Rihanna – these are all people who influence me musically! But I also LOVE Beyoncé! She just has something so special! Definitely Queen!
Asides from music, what do you enjoy doing?
I actually play football! I play for Colchester Ladies and have also represented my region in it. I love anything to do with fashion and performing arts! But my favourite thing ever is making music!
If you could come up with a supergroup made up of famous singers or musicians, dead or alive, who would you put together?
Beyoncé, Rihanna, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston. (That would be a strange group, but they’re all incredible!)
That would be an amazing supergroup! Which are your favourite type of gigs to perform at?
I love gigs where there’s a big crowd of people that just are there to enjoy themselves. When people are dancing and singing along with me it gives me such a huge buzz!
What advice would you give to someone starting out as a singer in the music industry?
Be persistent, stay motivated and don’t give up! If you want something badly, you have to work hard for it. There will be ups and downs along the way, but focus on only the positives and keep chasing the dream.
Great advice! What’s coming up next for you?
I’m currently in the studio working on new original material with some really cool and exciting producers, ready to release very soon! So keep your eyes out!
Thanks Georgia! We look forward to hearing more new music from you.
