Nathalie Miranda Interview – Live & Love Music

Nathalie discusses music memories, songwriting and function band gigs…

Hi Nathalie, whats your earliest memory of music?
My earliest memory of music is of me dancing to a Madonna album my mum had put on. There is video evidence of this too, which is quite embarrassing!

How do you feel when you’re performing on stage?
Being on stage is like no other feeling. Nothing compares. I feel like that is where I’m meant to be. It’s my happy place. If I could be there 24/7, I would 🙂

What’s your biggest achievement in your career so far?
I think it’s growing as an artist over the years, and always dusting myself off after every set back, and not letting anyone get in the way of my goals.

You also sing in Spanish, French and Greek. That’s pretty impressive! Are you fluent in any of those?
Thankyou! Yes, my family is Greek, and it was pretty much my first language until I went to school. We always spoke Greek at home. I studied French and Spanish at school and later at uni, so I’m also pretty much fluent in those too. Languages are definitely another passion of mine. I’ve even been teaching myself Russian!

You play covers gigs with your band too. What makes the perfect function band?
I think the most important thing is that you all get along! We are all friends, or friends of friends, so that really helps. We take our job seriously, and we really enjoy it. Music is our lives!

If you had to come up with a supergroup of singers and musicians, dead or alive, who would you put together?
Well, up front would have to be my biggest idol, Freddie Mercury. I absolutely love this guy, and have taken elements of his singing style and put it into my own. Then I think Michael Jackson, Prince, George Michael, Whitney, Stevie Wonder… I could go on! This would be a massive group!

What’s coming up for you this year?
This year I’ve been focusing alot on writing for other people, as well as my own material. I’ve been collaborating with lots of artists, which has been very inspiring. My covers band has a very busy summer ahead, and I’m looking to get together a separate band for my original material, and hopefully get my recorded material on iTunes etc. I’m also looking for management. So I have many things going on 🙂
