Eve-Yasmine Interview 2017
Eve-Yasmine Interview 2017 – Live & Love Music
Eve-Yasmine chats about her debut music video ‘Habibi’, fashion inspirations and performing abroad…
Hi Eve-Yasmine. We’re loving your debut music video Habibi. What was it like shooting that?
Magical, fun, hectic, full of obstacles and overcoming them…overall an amazing experience for my first ever music video! There were so many cute kids who were overlooking us while we were shooting, after a few takes a couple of the kids had learnt the chorus and were singing along it was adorable! Chefchaouen (where we shot the video) is such a hidden treasure, when we arrived in the evening and first stepped out of the taxi walking into the narrow alleyways I felt warmth in my heart instantly, so much excitement too and my team were incredible!
You perform abroad quite a lot – what’s been your favourite gig to play so far? Where would you love to perform next?
Ooo I think Sun Festival Marrakech in Morocco definitely has to be one of my favourite performances, the crowd was ecstatic, everyone was enjoying themselves and it was all feel good vibes! Additionally I had the chance to meet and collaborate with some super talented musicians/artists I loved it. There are so many places I would love to perform, it would be a dream come true to visit and sing in the USA, somewhere like New York – a city where so many iconic artists have performed.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
Colours, materials, accessories that remind me of moments in my life, my cultures etc, my inspiration comes from lots of things and sometimes I just have an idea that comes to mind and do my best to research and find a designer or shop in a style that’s as close to that image as possible. I love experimenting with different styles and love Sherri Hill dresses as much as I love my gym kit!
Last year, you modelled at CAFTAN DU MAROC London, what was that like?
Amazing. It was a lot of fun to be on the catwalk again after a while and the caftans were absolutely stunning, I met some really talented designers. When I was a teen I would flick through the pages of my Auntie’s fashion magazines in Casablanca and admire all the caftan designs, so it was surreal to then be wearing equally beautiful creations down the runway to ‘Habibi’ which was used as the soundtrack for Bouchra Filali’s show!
How would you describe your fans?
Loyal. Being an independent artist and funding projects myself there are long gaps between releases and content because I have to work more and save up but those who have supported me continue to share, watch, like and encourage me each time I upload and I’m really grateful for that. Even at this early stage it’s motivating to know that your song has made someone happy or related to them and helped or inspired them in some way.
What’s coming up for you in 2017?
I have another song ready and definitely want to shoot, write and record more. What’s meant to be will be but I will keep pushing on! Music is my passion and I want to do as much as I can, improve, get better, learn more and sing my heart out! There are various potential opportunities arising we’ll see which ones manifest themselves.
